The Eastman Raiders are a midget to youth football club that is located in Steinbach, Manitoba. The Eastman Raiders football club is a member of the Midget Football League of Manitoba. With the Eastman Raiders football club being formed in 1991, the club is now host to over 260 athletes ranging from 7 to 22 year olds. The Midget level of the Eastman Raiders won the 2009 Manitoba Championship for the first time in the clubs history, and the first time the championship was won outside of Winnipeg in 60+ years.
The Raiders have competed against teams from and around Winnipeg, including the North Winnipeg Nomads, East Side Eagles, the Transcona Nationals, the St. Boniface Warriors, the Ft. Garry Lions, the St. Vital Mustangs, the St. James Rods, the Lockport Cowboys, and the Grendell Falcons.
In 2009 the Eastman Raiders Midget team made club history. The Raiders posted a 7-1 record through the regular season, the best finish in team history. The Raiders defense finished ranked #1 in the MFLM with fewest yards allowed and most turnovers. The Raiders offense ranked #2 in the MFLM for Points For. The Raiders met the North Winnipeg Nomads in the MFLM Semi-Finals. The Raiders wn n the MFLM Semi-Finals gave them a berth in the MFLM Provincial Championship Game. It was only the 2nd time the Raiders Midget team had made it to the Championship game. The first place Eastman Raiders would meet the second place St.Vital Mustangs, who were the 2 time defending champions. The game ended with the Eastman Raiders securing a 20-9 victory, and claiming the first Provincial title in team history.
